Legal: Affiliate Disclosure And Privacy Notice

This page holds two documents in one: the affiliate disclosure and the privacy notice for Ecuador Galapagos Tours. The short version is that we are an independent guide, not an operator; some of our links earn us a commission from GetYourGuide or Viator if you book through them, at no extra cost to you; and this site collects very little, in aggregate, and sells nothing. Both documents are written in plain language rather than legalese. If anything here is unclear, the contact page reaches a person who will answer.

Affiliate Disclosure

Ecuador Galapagos Tours is an independent guide. We are not a tour operator, not a boat owner, not a travel agency holding your money, and not a booking platform. Some links on this site are affiliate links. Tour links go to GetYourGuide and Viator, the platforms where the operators featured here sell their tours. If you book after clicking one, we may earn a commission from the platform.

What It Costs You

Nothing. The commission is paid by the platform out of its own margin, and the price you see on the listing is the price you would see arriving there any other way. There is no markup, no service fee, and no payment of any kind passes through this site. Your card details go to GetYourGuide or Viator, never to us, and the booking contract is between you and the operator.

What The Commission Does Not Buy

Position. Within each group, listings are ordered by review count on every page, including the comparison page and each hub. The cards on the homepage are a selection from each group, shown in that same order. Commission rate plays no part in that order, no operator has paid to appear, and no operator has any editorial input into what we write about their tour.

  • Lists are ordered by review count within each group, on every page.
  • Listings that display no rating or no reviews sort last rather than being quietly hidden or quietly promoted.
  • No operator has paid for placement and none has any editorial input into what we write about their tour.

You can check that claim against the pages themselves. The order within a group is the order the platform review counts produce, nothing else.

What We Show Even When It Does Not Sell

We publish the gaps as they stand. Many listings on this site display no rating at all, and we say so on the card rather than smoothing it over. Of the 80 tours listed, 54 state no price basis, whether that is per person or per group, so where the listing gives no basis we write that you should see the listing for how it is priced, and we never assume per person. Printing an invented figure would convert better and would be dishonest, so we do not.

Where The Figures Come From

Every rating, review count, duration, inclusion, departure port, meeting point and cancellation term on this site is the operator's own published listing data, read from the live GetYourGuide or Viator page rather than pulled from a feed. Prices move with date, currency and group size, so the live listing is always the authority, which is why every tour button sends you there. Where a listing publishes nothing for a field, this site publishes nothing for it.

Why This Page Exists

United States Federal Trade Commission guidance requires clear disclosure of affiliate relationships, and a note buried only in a footer is not clear disclosure. So the full disclosure sits here on its own page, linked from every page of the site, and is repeated in plain language in the footer and beside the tour recommendations themselves.

A small number of hotel links on this site are also affiliate links, placed through Travelpayouts to Expedia. The same terms apply: no extra cost to you, the booking is made and paid for on the hotel platform, and a hotel link never changes the order of any tour list. No other affiliate programme is used. If that changes, this page changes before any new link goes live. If anything here is unclear, ask us through the contact page.contact page, or read the about page for how booking works in practice.

Privacy Notice

This site is deliberately simple, and so is what it knows about you. There are no accounts to create, no login, no newsletter sign-up, no contact form storing what you typed, and no comment section. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we have nothing to sell even if we wanted to.

Analytics

The site runs Google Analytics 4 so we can see, in aggregate, which pages help people and which ones they leave. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records things like the pages you view, the approximate location your connection resolves to, your device and browser type, and how you arrived. It also records when someone clicks through to a tour listing, which is how we tell a useful page from a page that merely gets traffic. None of it identifies you by name, and none of it is combined with anything else.

Blocking it costs you nothing here. Turn off cookies in your browser, use a tracker-blocking extension, or browse privately, and every page on this site still works exactly the same way.

Affiliate Links And Their Cookies

When you click a tour link here you leave this site and land on GetYourGuide or Viator. At that point the platform may set its own cookie so it can credit the referral to us if you book. That cookie belongs to the platform, is governed by the platform's own privacy policy rather than ours, and is the entire mechanism behind our affiliate disclosure. We never see your payment details, your booking, your name or your travel dates. The booking happens entirely on GetYourGuide or Viator, between you and the operator.

What We Host Ourselves

Pages here are static files served from a content delivery network, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for a limited period as a normal part of delivering and protecting a website. Two kinds of third-party content are embedded on some pages: a YouTube video loaded through the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain. Both are provided by Google and set their own cookies or local storage when you interact with them. If you never touch them, they collect correspondingly less.

Your Choices

Clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Use a blocker if you prefer. Nothing on this site is gated behind accepting anything, and we have no way to identify a returning visitor beyond what the analytics cookie does in aggregate.

Contact

For any privacy question, reach us through the contact page and a person will answer. If you want to know what this site is and who runs it before you decide, that is set out on the about page, and the legal side of the affiliate relationship is on the affiliate disclosure.
